The Importance of Protestant Reformation HistoryWhen our family began to dig into the history of the Protestant Reformation, Caleb and I realized that there was this wealth of rich, Christian testimony to the faithfulness of a sovereign God and the perseverance of faithful men and women that we tragically missed in our own Christian education. We have loved, and are still learning, about what these men and women did during this time and how God used them build His Kingdom. These men and women were truly human so they have their flaws as well as their victories, but what an encouragement to us as believers today to see how God can use a spark to light a fire for the Gospel to go forth and purify what man seeks to corrupt. Whether you consider yourself Reformed theologically or not, if you are not Roman Catholic, you owe a great debt to the men and women of the Protestant Reformation who fought to return the Church to Scripture as the standard of all faith and practice. We encourage you to read biographies written about and works written by our church fathers in order to appreciate how God worked his sovereign plan through common men and women. Their lives will challenge you to grow in your own faith and piety.
